鉄板読み物教材－レーナ・マリア
この読み物教材は，レーナ・マリアさんの東京公演のニュースに触発され，三友社出版の『レーナ・マリア』（白石かず子 編訳者 1994年）に基に作成したものです。
受動態の学習を終えた後の投げ込み教材として，あるいは，受験直前の１月～２月の時期に，長文読解の読み物教材として活用します。
この教材を通して彼女のことを知り，いろいろなこと感じたり，考えたりしながら，読解を楽しんでくれます。

■ 次の文は，スウェーデンの歌手レーナ・マリアさんについて述べたものです。
英文を読んで，下の１～３の問いに答えなさい。
① A beautiful song was heard in a theater in Tokyo. The song was very beautiful, and the audience enjoyed a lot.
The name of the singer is Lena Maria. She is from Sweden.
② She always looked happy when she sang.
Lena was born in 1968 in a small village in Sweden. ③ She has no arms, and her left leg is half the length of her right one. Five weeks after she was born, she could reach her mouth with her right foot. Thanks to the training from her babyhood, ④ she can now use her foot as a hand. With her foot, she writes letters beautifully, draws illustrations and uses a personal computer.
She also cooks and drives a car. When she eats, she uses a fork and spoon. She can also use chopsticks very well.
Lena's parents didn't help her too much. But, they were always there when she needed them. They loved Lena very much.
